Sharki's Story by Sharki ......... Early one March morning, as the sun hit the corner of my cage where I has been curled up sleeping, I opened my eyes and stretched. As I was preparing for my day, I realized that something was not quite right. There was something on my left eye that wouldn’t come off. It was a small spot that seemed to be everywhere I looked. I thought it was a piece of my bedding and I continued on with my daily routine hoping it would soon disappear. As the day went on, I realized that the spot on my eye was not going away, it was getting bigger. It was getting harder to see out of my left eye. I was scared.

The next day when I woke up I was unable to see out of my left eye. I was confused on what had happened. I spent most of the day getting used to only being able to see out of my right eye. Some things I used to do with ease became very difficult.

While I was eating my supper, I saw something on my food. It was not only on one piece of food, but it was on everything I looked at. It was then I realized that now there was a spot on my right eye. I was terrified that I would soon become blind in my right eye as well. What was I going to do not being able to see? Would I get used to being blind? There are so many things that I will miss not being able to see. Most of all, I will miss seeing my little girls who love me so much and play with me everyday. continue
