Reptiles

Reptiles are one of the fastest growing groups of animals owned by people today. They range from snakes to lizards all the way to turtles. Most of these pets require a specialized environment and diet to thrive. Most reptiles require a heat source in order to thermoregulate. Others require UVB rays in order to metabolize food. Some even require a dual habitat of dry land and an aquatic area. These pets can easily be bought at any pet store, but are often inadequately cared for which results in illness and even death to the animal.

Unlike many other pets, reptiles are not pets that can be cuddled with and are generally not affectionate. They are, however, infinitely diverse in appearance and have a broad range of habitats and conditions in which they can survive. When owning a reptile it is very important to consult with a veterinarian that is experienced in caring for, treating, and diagnosing reptile species.
