Dixie, a "hound" through and through... 1992 - 2006
Dixie joined our family in February 1993 at the age of 8 weeks. She was a “Hound” through and through, especially with her howling/baying! She loved people and was always the favorite of family and friends. She was rarely seen without a soft toy in her mouth. She especially liked to greet Tom when he landed in his powered parachute. She was laid to rest on a beautiful, cold day in December.

Lucky ...Shine On !
You often hear of heroic dog rescues but it isn't often you hear of the quiet heros, which is what Lucky was. My eight yearr old daughter was in a losing battle with bi-polar. As a last resort the doctor prescribed a dog.
We found Lucky in the end kennel of the Humane Society, on sale for $21.00. We chuckled at his name, Lucky?

My gosh, who's lucky? It seemed like his luck had hit a screetching halt, discount doggy on death row. My daughter related to him so home he came, hoping for someone to rescue her and set her free. As he came out of his shell, she came out of hers shocking everyone with her progress. In a sense, they saved each others lives.
Now, sometimes I catch myself thinking back to the question I first asked when I saw him, " Who's lucky?" I smile and say without a doubt, "We are."

Brownie - We love you too!
On April 4, 2006, Rebecca sat down to play the piano when she heard “rip”. “What was that sound?” she asked. “What sound?” Mom and Emily said in unison. “The rip sound,” said Rebecca. “We didn’t hear anything,” they said. “Oh, I know what is was. It was Brownie,” said Rebecca. Brownie often tore her newspaper and chewed on it. Brownie was just saying, “I love you and good bye.”

Spooky our "little spud"
Spooky passed away on June 13, 2006
Miss Spook came to us from the animal shelter as an abuse case. She was thin and bloody when we brought her home. She became our shadow and feisty protector. She was our “little spud” for almost 20 years before old age got the better of her. She was laid to rest today in our pet cemetery with all her other sisters and friends. We will miss her.

Beautiful Molly
Miss Molly is survived by her best friend Tuffy, Annie, Ernie and Henry. Molly loved to go for her morning run on the ranch. Just maybe she could get a rabbit or two. Tuffy brought new joy to her life. She loved to stay home and just play with him. We used to tease her about having, Betty Davis eyes and Betty Grable legs. Such a sweet spirit. Just one of God's many wonderful gifts to us. She will be missed and always remembered with a smile.

Schweitzer - Our Dear Friend
Schweitzer passed away January 17, 2005
Age: 13
Schweitzer affectionately known as Twixel or Punkin was the sweetest and most gentle member of our family. In his younger years he lived to run the fence line in our backyard pursuing his favorite hobby of chasing squirrels. Once up our apple trees he then alerting us to come and assist. His ears were as soft as velvet and his presence in our home was huge. He was always ready with a hug and lived to sleep in the sun. He will always rest in our hearts and never be forgotten.

Sartorius: Loving Friend
Sartorius passed away on June 2, 2003.
Age: 17 months
Sartorius is survived by her loving owner Simi Nesbit. She will always be remembered as a great friend who loved to be on Simi’s shoulders and go for walks with her. She loved to jump up and down in her cage to get Simi’s attention so she would let her out and play with her. Sartorius loved it when Simi would sit on the couch with her and let her crawl all over her while she watched TV. Simi will always remember when Sartorius got out and went on a two day adventure through the house later to be found in the closet peeking through the shirts as if playing hide and seek. Sartorius will never be forgotten and she holds a special place in Simi’s heart.

Kitty: Cat Who Loved To Hide
Kitty passed away October 2004.
Age: 6 years
Kitty is survived by her loving family. She will be in our hearts and memories forever. She will be remembered as the “cat who loved to hide”. She loved to sleep in baby beds, bring baby rabbits into the house and hide under the bed. Kitty would always leave a trail of cat hair wherever she went. She was never one to like having strangers in her house and occasionally you would see Kitty sprint to the litter box when company was over, but when she was done it was back to hiding until the coast was clear. We are grateful for the times we had with our loving friend, Kitty.
