“The God of the whole gave a living soul"

To furred and to feathered thing.
And I am my brother’s keeper.
And I will fight his fight;
And speak for the beast and the bird
Till the world shall set things right.”

-Ella Wheeler Wilcox

At Canyon Lake Veterinary Hospital we believe that showing compassion and kindness to another living creature is one of the greatest acts we as human beings can perform. We believe that in offering people a place to bring the injured and orphaned wild creatures they find, we are encouraging that compassionate spirit.

Each year we receive a variety of birds and mammals and each one is treated with gentleness and compassion. And while every life entrusted to us cannot be saved, each creature receives the medical care and treatment that it requires and deserves.

We believe that in most cases there is always hope. Through our experiences we have learned that even the most seemingly hopeless creature can sometimes astound us by recovering to live a normal life and eventually be released back to the wild. We have learned that perhaps we human beings aren’t as much in control as we would like to believe. Through our experiences we have come to believe that there is a “guardian angel” watching over the wild creatures.

Canyon Lake Veterinary Hospital provides medical care and treatment to these special patients at no cost. This allows any monetary donations to be used in providing the various diets these birds and animals require.
