Commitment to Community
One of the goals of Canyon Lake Veterinary Hospital is to provide our community with an education about their companion pets and their care.
We believe that an educated owner is a better owner. The relationship between pets and their owners is greatly strengthened and lengthened through education. If you would like us to visit your group or class, please call us. If you have a specific topic of interest, let us know in advance and we can tailor an onsite visit to suit your needs. Community Education
Tami is one of many volunteers who go around to 3rd grade classrooms to discuss the many reasons their pet should be spayed or neutered. Besides revealing to the children the reality that there are too many pets out there who do not have a home, it utilizes their math skills to calculate the number of pets that are born to 1 un-spayed female and her offspring over the course of many years. The students seem to love it too, because there are a lot of chances for them to participate and have their questions answered at the end of the activity.

NAU Pet Walk
An annual event held the first Saturday in May, the NAU Pet Walk is put on by the veterinary technician students in support of the Humane Society of the Black Hills and spay and neuter programs here in Rapid City. Besides the various programs put on and prizes to win, the veterinary hospitals in the area all come out in support and to educate pet owners on how to take even better care of their pet. Canyon Lake Veterinary Hospital has been there every year, and the topics we have promoted vary from dental care to the benefits of spaying and neutering. We hope to see you there! |
