One of the goals of Canyon Lake Veterinary Hospital is to provide our community with an education about their companion pets and their care. We believe that an educated owner is a better owner. The relationship between pets and their owners is greatly strengthened and lengthened through education. If you would like us to visit your group or class, please call us. If you have a specific topic of interest, let us know in advance and we can tailor an onsite visit to suit your needs. Some favorite events include:
Madonna & Rhett, Delta Certified What began as a dream, an idea, has come true. Madonna and her Standard Poodle, Rhett, have been certified through the Delta Society as a therapy team
	We are so proud of the hard work and dedication they have both given to meet this goal. Madonna chose the Delta Society over other therapy dog programs because it is the one that the R.E.A.D. program (Reading Education Assistance Dogs) requires that the dogs be registered with in order to participate in that program. Delta is also the only therapy dog program that expects the handler to get as much or more training than the dog. Read More>>>
Responsible Dog Ownership Day
Canyon Lake Veterinary Hospital sponsored a booth at the annual AKC Responsible Dog Ownership Day Event at the Fair Grounds over the weekend, Sept. 2009. Read more>> As reported by the Rapid City Journal: "Danielle Robins of Rapid City said this was her first year coming to the event. "I think it's great for the people and the dogs," she said. "It's great for socialization. And I get to see some people who work in the same area I do." Robins is a registered veterinary technician from Canyon Lake Medical Hospital and brought her Harlequin 2-year-old Great Dane, Puma"....read the RCJ article
Microchip Clinic
On February 9, Canyon Lake Veterinary Hospital participated in a community outreach project by doing a microchip clinic for the Region 4H Dog Project and for the Rapid City Kennel Club Puppy Class. It was a fun evening for our technicians, Greta Maker and Anouska Willett. We love puppies and really enjoy the chance to snuggle with them. Read more>>>
